The rainbow Venix certainly sounds interesting. The price is impressive too ! What manner of C compiler comes with it ? How "complete" a Unix implementation is it ? Has anyone thought about porting Minix to the rainbow ? -- -mgb ...ihnp4!codas!ki4pv!macs!mgb : UUCP

VENIX/Rainbow is a complete V7 UNIX. It comes with everything you expect
in V7 UNIX, with the possible exception of troff (you do get nroff, though).
The C compiler is the usual pcc-based compiler. It generates pretty good
code.
Hoping this will answer all the "How complete is it" and "What's included"
questions, here's a list of most of the things in /bin, /usr/bin, and
/usr/local/bin on our development system -- all of this is either included
with VENIX or (for the more obscure items) available on request:

$800.00.
<>Do they make a PC/xt version?
Yes, but they've discontinued the V7-based PC/XT VENIX and now only sell
the System V based version. VENIX/Rainbow is V7-based.
