There was a discussion about setting the background/text colors on a Rainbow in this newsgroup some time ago. I just wanted to post a little information I found out on this subject. There is a way to set the colors on a Rainbow, however, there are severe limitations. There is a public domain program on the fido's called color. When you have regis installed, color sets the color of background, text, bold and blinking to 100 different values. The program seems to work just fine, is menu driven or the values can be given on the command line. Now for the spoilers. If you have history enabled, backspace and stepping through the history with the cursor keys does not work. If you disable history (INTERRUPT) backspace works again. Any program that uses fast video (microemacs, lcterm, ded, to name a few) will not work. The reason is that having regis active uses the graphics screen and these fast video programs use the text screen only. Finally, most graphics programs upon exit send you back to text screen and I don't know how to set you back to graphics mode. If you are still interested in setting colors I can give you the specific fido I downloaded from, or if there is enough interest, I will post color to the net. -- Stan Dutler There ya go man, Keep as cool as ya can ..ihnp4!ihuxz!dutler Face piles of trials with smiles
