We are using several Data General DG/One laptop computers here. They are "fully" IBM compatible and will, in fact, run everything we run on ole' Blue. The incompatibility is in the RS-232C ports. Whereas the IBM uses the 8250 UART, DG chose a CMOS alternative to reduce power consumption. The instruction set fot this UART is incompatible with the 8250 and IBM communications programs are useless. Has anyone come across a communications package, commercial or otherwise, that FULLY emulates the DEC VT-100. The caveat is that it DOES NOT have to support "smooth scroll". It is absolutely imperative, though, that it fully emulates cursor control, function keys and alternate keypad modes used by the VT-100. I would be happy to post a summary of all responses here, as I feel that as the DG/One gains in acceptance, more folks will be looking for this. Wolf Wiedemann RADC-MULTICS
