[comp.sys.dec.micro] More on Rainbow BIOS changes

rgt@LANL.GOV (Richard Thomsen) (04/15/88)

I have successfully (I think) modified my BIOS changes for MS-DOS Version
3.1 for the Rainbow. I have not yet started running under 3.1, since I
do not have books on how to use it, and cannot afford to buy one just now.
But it boots up and runs some of its programs from floppy disk. I have not
yet tried it from hard disk.

I have not yet modified the FORMAT program to format my double-sided disks.
That is my next project.

I modified the BIOS and the MS-DOS bootstrap code. The Z-80 code did not
change, so I am using my previously changed versions.

Version 3.1 comes with a FDISK program to format the hard disk. Since I
use a RD52 (33 MByte disk), I am not sure if it will work on my disk
or not, and have not yet tried to use it to get rid of my extra partitions.

Does anyone know of a PATCH program for the Rainbow where I can generate
patch data for the BIOS and others can use it to patch their BIOS?
