Hello netlanders! I'm wondering if any of you can help me with a problem I'm having with my hard disk. It's a 20MB LaPine which is Seagate compatible, with the exception that it has 612 cylinders rather than the more common 615 (both have 4 surfaces). I'm using a DEC controller card and have formatted the disk using WUTIL, v2.0. While it runs fine most of the time, it has the annoying habit of not always finishing system loads during warm boots - (<SETUP> - <CTRL><SETUP>). This problem occurs most often when the system's hung, thereby requiring a reboot. Is this problem due to the nonstandard geometry of my disk? I've tried using the boot loaders supplied by DEC and by WUTIL, but to no avail. When the problem occurs, the disk makes a sound like it's experiencing a read or seek error, but neither WUTIL, Norton Utilities' DISKTEST nor Suitable Solutions' HDSCAN report any bad sectors in the boot area. BTW: My system's a 100A which was TRUMPed up to a 100B.
