[comp.sys.dec.micro] Idrive problems with DOS 3.1

VDVOORDE@HROEUR51.BITNET (09/08/88)

Anyone out there who can help me with the following problem? I
installed an 'escaped' version of the new DOS (have the official one
on order from Suitable Solutions) but has not arrived yet.

It has an incompatibility problem with my I-drive which won't read and
write its floppy's under 3.1. The problem disappears when I use 2.11
from from A:/B: floppy.

Suggestions or clues ?

One of the problems I had with an escaped version was to get a
"correct" escaped version. Many problems really depend on the
revision of the DOS 3.1. You should only use 3.10.016. There is one
additional revision (017) that had some problems.

Glad to see you have an official version on order because that would
be my suggestion for the solution for you. The other thing you
might want to check is the version number of the IDRIVE.SYS file you
have. You might have gotten the device driver so long ago that there
have been revisions to fix it.

One question which might solve the problem. When you say it does not
work, do you mean the device driver gives you an error when it is
installed or that even after the error you can't write to it? If you
simply get an error message upon installation, ignore it. It means
nothing. Because that was a problem I had when I first received my
3.1.

Good luck.
