Someone mentioned that the Rainbow user community is discussing porting MINIX. Is this just talk, or has anybody started to write the floppy, terminal, etc. drivers? Since I'm currently taking an operating systems class with MINIX as the hub of conversation, I have wanted to build the necessary files, but haven't had time. I have also been brain storming and have been wondering if the bootblok, kernel, etc. can be built as the block loaded from the harddisk if the partition is choosen. This would eliminate the two step process of booting currently used. In essence, the Rainbow 'feature' of selectively booting can be put to good use. The information I would need is how the individual partitions are set-up, and what kind of loader is involved. I plan to follow this project when time presents itself. The Rainbow could use an inexspensive OS with full source included. With 896k available in the hardware and the possibility of using both processors at the same time.... Any comments, suggestions, help, etc.. Bill *-------------------------------------------------------------------------* : William S.
