In the past few weeks I've been impressed from messages in this newsgroup that the Pro-350 has a PDP11 engine and will run any software that will run on the PDP11. I just saw that DEC sells a line of micro-PDP11s which run Ultrix-11. Any possibility of running Ultrix-11 on the Pro?? That would be wonderful if I could convert my Pro to a unix machine! Chaim

Yes, a pro 350 will indeed run unix. I've seen these at DECUS and believe there are at least 2 flavors of Unix that will work on a pro. Sorry I didn't mention this before; it had slipped my mind. If you run unix, there's a bit of communication possible with pros running p/os, namely a tar floppy program in the DECUS library that runs in p/os which can read/write tar format floppies, allowing some communication with your colleagues in that format. This will likely only be useful for a few routines however, moving source code around. The RX50 medium is not exactly a widespread one, but possibly the bit of info may help someone else out there. I have no experience with any unix flavors on pro BTW. They must be bought and MY shop didn't have the $$ for this....... Glenn Everhart Everhart%Arisia.decnet@crd.ge.com
