[comp.sys.dec.micro] talking to Baby Blue...

mreisch@carina.unm.edu (Mique Reisch) (12/23/89)

I just recently picked up this machine. After a week I'm
quite pleased with my rainbow but have a few questions. Since these
are prolly real common questions please reply via e-mail to the
address in the .sig...

1) Is there any way to write a disk on the Rainbow and read it on an
IBM pc/xt (not at, I know about RX50 from the info-dec-micro archive
and it doesn't help me). I've tried formatting the disks on the XT
using format a:/1. This produces a disk that both machines can write
to but they can't read the others files (ie the rainbow says a disk
written by the XT is perfectly blank and twice the size the XT said it
was).

2) Communications. I could really use a termprog that supports zmodem
transfers. If not that then perhaps a patch for DSZ to make it run on
the Rainbow.

3) Instrutions on how to use Turbo C on the Rainbow. I have
successfuly transfered it to my hard drive. The question is how to
make it go. Do I need a patch set?

4) Documentation. Is there any? I bought this unit used and am very
pleased with it. I know ms-dos but not the Rainbow and am wondering
where to get information other then Dec (who would prolly be glad to
sell me the data for $700.00 :-)

thanks
