Ok folks, I posted a message some time ago asking for help on the pin outs for the Rainbow printer port and no one responded, so I'll try again. Here's my situation. I bought a used DEC LA50 printer surplus but it did not come with the cable. I know that I can use my modem cable because it is the same as the printer cable (so I found by connecting it to the printer but I cant't see the wiring for this cable as it is molded). Switching between the two is a pain to say the least. I have the male/female DB25 connectors and about 12ft of 12-conductor cable (sheilded). I need this info please. If you can help, send me e-mail or post to this group. Thanks for any help/info. p.s. I would also like to know how to control the la50 (i.e. user manual) but this is not a priority. Anyone got any suggestions on how to get docs on the la50? Maybe from DEC? -- -- [generic signature] UUCP: ...usceast!calvin!username

There doesn't seem to be a way to reply w/o sending to everyone, so here goes... From the Rainbow Tech Documentation: Printer Port Interface Connector Pin No. Signal Description Mnemonic Direction 1 Protective Ground PROT GND ------- 2 Transmit Data TXD Input 3 Receive Data RXD Output 5 Clear to Send CTS Output * 6 Data Set Ready DSR Output * 7 Signal Ground GND ------- 20 Data Terminal Ready DTR Input * This output is always asserted high. Is this of any use? Cheers, Nollaig MacKenzie gl250011@orion.yorku.CA
