[comp.sys.dec.micro] Memory Expansion Pinout - IDRIVES - Backup Prog

rxf@genrad.uucp ( Ruben D. Fagundo ) (07/02/90)

The IDRIVE that SS put out was simply a standard 360K PC drive and cable,
with special device drivers for the RB to handle it. If you decide
to just buy a $20 drive and use your existing idrive drivers, you must
make sure that the jumper on the drive is set to DS0 and that edge 34 on
the drive be tied high if it is unconnected. Some floppy drives use this
edge as the drive ready and most PC's don't use it, but the RB absolutely
needs it, or it will always say that the drive is not ready. The cable
for the IDRIVE is a standard PC drive cable, with NO twist in the ribbon.
Just be sure to connect it so that pin 1 on the drive goes to pin 1 on
the RB controller. (Pin 1 is the red conductor in the ribbon cable) I
realize that these directions are brief, but if you want more info, send
me email and I'll try to give you a more detailed description. The whole
process is really very simple.

Now, for my questions. I asked before and I'll ask again. Does anyone
know the pin-out of the memory expansion port on the RB 100 B motherboard.
I'd like to interface a 286 accelerator card to the RB.

Also, could someone tell me where I could get the backup program that
everyone has been talking about. The program is BCK.

Thanks in advance.
