[net.news.group] Why do we have net.chess but net.rec.bridge?

ark@rabbit.UUCP (07/27/83)

Doesn't make sense to me.

rabbit!ark asks why net.chess but not net.rec.bridge....

net.chess is used for aspects of chess other than the recreational,
as well as the recreational. E.g., discussions of computer chess,
discussions of the current state of the world championship (closer
to net.sport than net.rec), and so on.

I suppose it doesn't matter much, although once I losingly
tried to post something to net.bridge (didn't work). I
guess the big thing in life is to reduce the number of
dots (after all, I was thrilled when I went from
UC.RGH to RH on our twenex.) The more dots something has,
the lower the Karma?
