[comp.sys.dec.micro] Equipment available. CHEAP!!!

duff@starbase (David A. Duff) (07/28/90)

I have a working Rainbow system which I would like to get rid of. It has a
hard disk and two floppies. I think it is one of the earlier Rainbow models.
There are also a lot of accessories that go along with it. Brief descriptions
follow below:

* RAINBOW 100 CPU
with monitor, keyboard, etc

* Memory Card(s?)

* Hard Disk
It was a rather small drive (5M, I think). It is a DEC product and has a DEC
controller.

* Communications Board

* Graphics Board
It could do some pretty nice graphics. The monitor is b/w.

* Computer Table
This is a really neat little computer desk which had an adjustable height
top, a separately adjustable swing arm to hold the display, and a rack to hold
the cpu box (standing vertically) on the back. It was a DEC product, truly
heavy duty, industrial grade stuff. I have no idea what the model # is.

* Printer
This is a big, wide-carriage, dot-matrix printer. I think it was called the
LA100. It has draft and high quality modes. It can print pretty fast.

* Printer Table
Again, this is industrial strength printer table. A DEC product.

* Software Lots of CP/M software.
All with original disks and manuals. Nothing too exciting here, to be honest,
this is a freebie to anyone who's interested in buying any other pieces.
Final Word text processing/formatting system.

Sorry, but I'm a little fuzzy on the details of how much memory, etc. If you
have any questions, I'd be happy to check and get back to you to let you know
anything you want to know.

All equipment is in working order - no scratches or anything. I think i have
the boxes for the important stuff (like the CPU and printer), but probably not
for the tables. I have all the manuals.

I am willing to entertain any reasonable offers on any or all of this
equipment. As you might expect, I'm really looking for someone to make me a
good offer for the whole lot of stuff, but I will consider selling individual
parts. I don't have a good sense for what this stuff is going for right now,
but I'll go ahead and say this: the first $700 offer takes it all. If you
think that's too much, feel free to make me an offer. Specifically, if you
can convince me of what the "going" price is for any piece of the equipment
(e.g. show me some recent ad's or something), I'll beat the going price. I'm
definitely going to get rid of the stuff one way or the other, so you could
end up with a steal. If necessary, I can arrange for shipment by your choice
of carrier.

The system is located in Lexington, MA. I am currently located in McLean, VA,
but I will be in Boston at AAAI next week. After that, the system will still
be available for pickup/inspection in Lexington, but I will not be there to
show it to you (it's at my parents' house).

You can call 617-862-8081 (that's my parents' place where the system is
located) or 703-356-7889 (that's my home). Both of these numbers have
answering machines, but please don't call after midnight eastern time. As I
said, I'll be at AAAI next week, but I'll respond to email offers/enquiries to
"duff@ai.mitre.org" around next Monday, 6 Aug.
