[comp.sys.dec.micro] Windows 3.0 for the Rainbow

OBRIEN%OBRIEN@VENUS.YCC.YALE.EDU ("James A. O'Brien 432-4382", 203) (08/28/90)

Many people have asked about Windows 3.0 for the Rainbow. The version 3.0
upgrade of the Rainbow Adaptation Kit for Windows is currently shipping - I
spoke to the developer today, who told me he'd put my copy in the mail on last
Friday (I already have Windows 2.11 running on my Rainbow, thanks to version
2.11 of the Rainbow Adaptation Kit).

I don't have the address here, but the Rainbow Adaptation Kit for Windows is a
product of Leonard Berk Consulting, in Toronto, Ontario (Canada). You can
reach them by telephone at (416) 260-0348. The only price I know about is the
upgrade if you already have their product for Windows 2.11, and that's $50
(US).

Note that you don't actually get Windows - just some additional software which
can configure the standard version of Windows for use on the Rainbow (with the
appropriate device drivers, etc.). Therefore, you'll need to get Windows
separately. You'll also need to be able to read the disks on your Rainbow. I
use an I-Drive, and I've already ordered the 360k disk set for Windows 3.0, for
example. Perhaps Len Berk can help you to acquire Windows on the appropriate
media, but I'm not sure. I do know that he has been offering such disk
conversions for Windows applications (for a fee, I think) in the past.

I haven't actually received the upgrade yet. When I do, and I've installed it,
I'll post a follow-up message here.
