[net.news.group] RE net.abortion

dr_who@umcp-cs.UUCP (07/31/83)

Being the "pinheaded idiot" who spread the abortion issue to net.politics, I
feel I should respond to this unfair charge. Insofar as both sides seek
certain LEGISLATION (either to prohibit abortion, or to make it available to
poor women), it is definitely a political issue. Perhaps I should have
posted my comments to net.philosophy, since it is ALSO a philosophical
issue. But I certainly wasn't going to bother net.women with it, after so
many complaints (which are legitimate -- it doesn't particularly belong
there -- not MY comments, anyway).

Second, if my critic had READ it, he/she/it would have discovered that my
article aimed to REDUCE the amount of debate by showing that neither side's
arguments were convincing! And it must have done some good, because nobody
has replied to the CONTENT of my article yet. Anyway, I agree that lots of
people would like to unsubscribe, and that that's a good reason for filing
the issue away in a separate newsgroup.
