In another newsgroup, distributed only at U of Florida, I recently wrote: Are there people to whom a DEC Pro 350 would be a blessing rather than a curse? I believe the machines have PDP 11-ish cpu, 512Kbytes RAM, 10Mbyte HD. No software except a text editor (EDT) and a VT125 terminal emulator. My laboratory would like to dump 2 of these (actually 1.75 -- somehow we've lost the monitor and keyboard to one of them -- Anyone able to help make this a complete donation package by contributing those Pro 350 elements?). Should we send them to a local high school? I don't think so. Should we give them to the University's CS Dept as a Minix-based OS instructional platform (I know almost nothing about Minix, and I am assuming Minix has been ported to the Pro 350 *or* such a port would be a good instructional project). Please advise. Someone recommended "Use as a boat anchor". Can anyone from this newsgroup give me more constructive advice?
