I am in possesion of a vt100 which is in need of repair. Basically, as is common with vt100's, the video has died. It turns on, beeps, flashes the keyboard lights, etc. and it still sends and receives data through the serial port, but the screen remains blank the entire time. I tried upping the brightness via the arrow keys on the keyboard while in setup, but to no avail. A friend of mine indicated that two parts that commonly fail and lead to this condition are the coil mounted above the video driver circut board, and this circut board itself (ie. some component on it). What I would like to know is what the rating of the coil is (henrys, max volts, etc.) so that I might try replacing it. Alternatly, does anyone know of a supply for these video driver circut boards (I don't know the actual name for it, but it has the trim pots for adjusting the focus, etc.). I haven't tried calling DEC because A) I don't know the correct phone number, and B) they would probably charge an outrageous amount of money for any replacement parts or technical manuals. Any help is appreciated... +---------< Eric A.
