I have a Rainbow with a 10 Meg hard disc and 2 floppy drives. I am running DOS 2.1. I erased my xywrite directory by typing "del *.* fon" instead of "del *.fon". (a hard lesson well learned) so, Is there any recovery leads any one can help me with -- I called DEC, DECUS, asked our local mavens, and a generous gentleman in Washington DC who suggested dumping everything from the hard drive to floppies-- Is there a version of Norton for this machine? I tried bouncing Norton UD 4.0 off the VAX to the Rainbow drive B: It didn't work. It's about 900,000 K in about 180 files. There are several undelete programs for the Rainbow. But I usually use Norton's NU v 4.0 - if you use it with the /D1 or /D2 switch, it will go to the IBM-PC BIOS or to ANSI.SYS, respectively. If you have Code Blue or something similar, this should be all that's needed; if you use /D2 even that shouldn't be necessary. For some reason Norton v4.5 seems to have troubles on the Rainbow - I've never tried to track down why since 4.0 works just fine. If you still have trouble, email me and I may be able to mail you back a copy of one or another of the undelete programs ... Bruce C. Wright
