I am running AIX2.1.2 on a desktop RT. I have been using ate as my terminal emulator/communication program. I want to use ate in a window from X-Windows. However when I give a connect command, it seems to lock up the shell. It could be that it is unable to set the terminal type correctly. In any event, nothing shows up. Does any one have a solution to this or have any other emulator program? Thanks.

Possibly. I posted before and this last one from you doesn't say if you tried any of the suggestions or what. I have found in my limited experience with connect, that it will hang if unable to open the port requested. If the lock file is present (in /etc/locks) the operator receives a "locked" message, but if the cable is disconnected or another hardware problem is the cause, there is no associated message. I posted last time on the information in "Managing the AIX" and "Communications on the AIX". Are you the person that was looking for that info? I seem to recall that the requestor didn't have *any* communications working -- do you? "Use the Source, Luke.
