[comp.sys.ibm.pc.rt] INed structured files

I am looking for information about the format of INed structured or
indexed files. Is there a utility to create such files (other then
the text files which the editor can create).
About the editor: Is INed derived from the "rand editor" (re)? Did IBM do
any modifications to it? Do the rand editor support structured files?
