[comp.sys.ibm.pc.rt] Anyone out there?

windley@iris (Phil Windley) (02/16/88)

Is anyone out there? I haven't seen much on this group. I have a
question for anyone who might be on listening. Has anyone
successfully installed GNU-emacs on an rt under AIX? The docs that
come with GNU suggest that the files are there, but imply that it
might not work.

I performed an *almost* complete port this past summer. I was just
starting a major project on an RT and didn't want to use any other
editors available. It was an old version of GNU (17.54 I think) and
involved some pretty ugly hacks. I also had a few minor bugs left
which didn't really affect use (at least the way I use it) and the
time-required to increased-benefit ratio did not make it worthwhile to
mess with them. It is definitely possible, and should be easier with
the more recent versions of GNU.

E-mail if you want more info.
