Has anyone used the 3278/79 Emulation Card to login to an IBM mainframe, and transfer files to an RT from an application program? I would appreciate any help in this area. Does the question assumes use of 4.3? There are several AIX based packages that support this, depending on the protocol to be used between the RT and the 3174 (or whatever is on the 370 side). These are listed in the RT catalog; I'd list some of them here, but I'm typing this at home without access to the catalog. (To answer the precise question above, I used to use the em78 package for this purpose, but now I use telnet/ftp across a token ring/8232 connection instead.) -- Charlie Sauer IBM AES/ESD, D75/802 uucp: cs.utexas.edu!ibmaus!sauer 11400 Burnet Road csnet: ibmaus!sauer@CS.UTEXAS.EDU Austin, Texas 78758 aesnet: sauer@auschs (512) 823-3692 vnet: SAUER at AUSVM6

Disclaimer: I work at Rabbit, I'm biased. Rabbit's NETWORK 3270-PLUS (BSC) uses the 3278/79 Emulation Card in a DFT connection to a non-SNA Control Unit. File transfer is via IND$FILE. A C-language API ("PIM" Programmer Interface Module) lets you exchange screens with host applications. The IBM product number is 5601-045, the Programming Announcement is 286-403, September 18, 1986.
