There are several things that I was able to do on the 4.3 RT's that I have not yet figured out on the AIX ones. Please RTFM where appropriate (specifying where to look would help, also) 1. When you are using "lprbe" to print to a remote host running BSD UNIX, how do you tell it which printer to use? I added the alias "printserver" next the host I wanted to print on in "/etc/hosts" and the RT's hostname to "/etc/hosts.lpd" on the remote host. I can type "lprbe filename" and it will print on the default printer on the remote host. How do I get it printing on the other printers? 2. When I run X on the RT running AIX 2.2.1, and I iconify a window and drag it around the screen, it leaves "turds" behind. I can clear them by refreshing, but this seems kind of silly. Is there something I could have set up wrong that causes this behavior? 3. Some people who have the AIX RT's want to be able to use 3270 emulation in telnet. If I start it up with "telnet -e 3270 hostname", it will connect, but will lock up the screen and ignore any keys except for the telnet escape character. Does anybody have "tn3270" running on their AIX RT? 4. Why are there no entries for "xterm" (or "aixterm") in /usr/lib/terminfo? I managed to add my own by taking them off a Sun and using "tic". 5. I can open a xterm window from the RT on my Sun (X11R3), but when I iconify it and then try to open it, it disappears. It is still there though, as I can kill my window manager and restart it, and they will show up again.. Sometimes, it will print "aborting..." on my console window and die if I click on it a few times. -e -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Eric Pearce ARPANET eap@bu-it.bu.edu Boston University Information Technology CSNET eap%bu-it@bu-cs 111 Cummington Street JNET jnet%"ep@buenga" Boston MA 02215 UUCP !harvard!bu-cs!bu-it!eap 617-353-2780 voice 617-353-6260 fax BITNET ep@buenga
