[comp.sys.ibm.pc.rt] TCP/IP over X.25 for AIX/RT ?

trier@freja.diku.dk (Jens Trier Rasmussen) (02/23/89)

Hello

I have a question about TCP/IP and X.25 on the RT PC.

Is it possible to run TCP/IP over X.25 on a IBM PC RT running AIX ?

If so which version of AIX, which board and so on ?

I would be very glad for any information on the subject !

Cheers

Yes, I know it's possible because a friend of mine is doing it. He's
running TCP/IP over a 56 kbps leased line. The line is driven by a
"CSU/DSU" about which I know little, other than it's the digital line
equivalent of a modem. He uses a "Frontier Technologies" card in the RT,
(apparently a fast HDLC line driver) which is connected to the CSU/DSU
via RS-232. I believe AIX version 2.2.1 is required to run all this.

He's setting up some equipment for UniForum in San Francisco; I'll beg
him to post details when he returns.

Yes, AIX 2.2.1 supports tcp/ip over X.25. I've been using it for over a
month and recently demonstrated it at UniForum in San Francisco.

IBM markets an X.25 card for the RT at low speeds, but supports any card
that is available with an AIX device driver. One such card is the Adcom-2I
from Frontier Technologies of Milwaukie, Wisconsin, that runs at up to 56K.

Needless to say, this is not meant to be an endorsement of any particular
product and any opinions are strictly my own.
