More AIX weirdness (see my previous posting on CD and open): It appears that my AIX system has a problem with signals (and this may relate to the lack of delta CD progress). If I have trap "echo trapped 2" 2 on one **physical** terminal, and issue kill -2 pid as super-user from another terminal ("pid" is replaced with the appropriate process-id), NOTHING HAPPENS. I press ENTER on the terminal "killed" and I get a new prompt. If I enter echo "foo" on the "killed" terminal, my output is foo trapped 2 It looks to me like I have a problem with signals not getting processed because they are waiting on something. Could this be caused by insufficient swap space? (I installed with the defaults. I have 8M of RAM. I have only 2 logins active at this time.) Does EVERYONE have problems like mine with AIX, or am I totally f***ing this system up? (I never had problems like this with my SYS V on a 3b2!) (Bear with me...sooner or later I'll get this thing installed and quit asking for help...I hope!) -- Kevin Kleinfelter @ Management Science America, Inc (404) 239-2347 gatech!nanovx!msa3b!kevin
