Well, after some delay here is the charter for the proposed Comp.unix.aix group. The discussion conducted over the past month in news.groups. It is now time for a vote. There has been very little negative reaction but we will need 100 more yes votes that no votes to form the group. So tell your friends and co-workers to send in their votes. Send your votes to fink@physics.orst.edu Please clearly state ether; Yes, in favor of forming the group Comp.unix.aix. or No, against forming the group. __________________________Charter ____________________________ Comp.unix.aix is for the exchange of ideas, advice and general discussion of IBM's AIX Unix and its role in the Open Software Foundation. We wish to have an open and free exchange of ideas. Because AIX and the related OSF/1 will be implemented on a wide range of platforms the readership of will be a diverse group. Discussion of issues that will interest a broad audience are especially encouraged. Nonetheless, the focus is to remain on AIX together with the computers it runs on, and OSF's OSF/1 system. Readers are encouraged to consider which group may provide the best audience for their comments. Comp.unix.i386 and comp.unix.xenix are the appropriate places to discuss third party Unix for Intel 286/386 computers. Comp.sys.ibm.pc.rt is a good place to discuss matters that involve the IBM RT only, including the AOS 4.3 operating system. Comp.unix.questions is always best for general questions about Unix. Above all the comp.unix.aix news group is a place for people to share ideas and to learn. Tolerance and patience are needed to foster an atmosphere where this can happen. ____________________________________________________________________________ Paul J.
