wyman@athertn.Atherton.COM (Wyman Chong) (08/11/89)
I tried the following to create a sccs s. file
touch foo
admin -ifoo s.foo
and got the following....
ERROR: user-ID not in password file (cm9)
I typed help cm9 and got the following.....
"user-ID not in password file"
Your current user-ID could not be located in the password file.
Contact system support personnel.
I am in the password file..........
rose:{9}:grep wyman /etc/passwd
wyman:!:1440:10:Wyman Chong:/usr2/wyman:/bin/csh
rose:{10}:id
uid=1440(wyman) gid=10(staff)
I tried the same operation as root and got a core dump.
I also tried it on AIX PS/2 and it worked correctly.
What am I doing wrong?
I am running AIX 2.2.1 with assorted updates.
Thanks in advance.
