Hi, thanks very much to the kind netters (including an IBMer from Texas) who suggested I get the 1723 and 1745 (I think, at home now) patches from IBM: lots of things, like Doug Young's tree widget, Xcu, and Xgen have started working. IBM was very prompt in getting us the updates, once I knew what to ask for. (Kinda like cd'ing in an rwx--x--x directory tree). Xgen works except for the "hilight" button attribute (excuse, may not be using correct Xgen buzzword) which overwrites the bbutton label. However, I have never seen Xgen on a color machine except for the IBM, so I am not sure whom to blame for this, yet. The only changes I made where to shorten some file names. Xcu 1.2 works but chops off the tops of some labels. I fixed this by manualing boosting the label widths. I soon will install 1.3 and determine if this is fixed. One person who told me about the paches noted that IBM did not supply HP widgets that would work with R3. Fear not, the Xhp patched widgets on expo work fine, after the normal makefile changes (-DBSD_INCLUDES and cranking up table space). I suspect the X window list people do not wish to hear of our AIX woes, so if you have interesting problems and fixes, post them here please. In particular, stuff done to get PD or widely avail software (like MOTIF) to run would be of interest to many, I suspect. Cheers Andrew
