UUCP is definitely not my favorite unix program. |:( I've connected up with ibmsupt at ACIS in Palo Alto and sucessfully received: /usr/spool/uucppublic/ibm43-fixes/hc2.1s.tar.Z /usr/spool/uucppublic/ibm43-fixes/patch.tar.Z however, when I try to retrieve the diff files v1.{*} I get the following sequence of events. The command: # uucp -x4 ibmsupt\!~/ibm43-fixes/v1.10 /usr/spool/uucppublic The LOGFILE: ... root northstar5 (9/1-07:25-375) QUE'D (C.ibmsuptnruN0) root ibmsupt (9/1-07:26-376) SUCCEEDED (call to ibmsupt ) root ibmsupt (9/1-07:26-376) OK (startup ttys0 1200 baud) root ibmsupt (9/1-07:26-376) REQUEST (R ~/ibm43-fixes/v1.10 /usr/spool/uucppublic root) root ibmsupt (9/1-07:26-376) REQUEST FAILED (remote access to path/file denied) root ibmsupt (9/1-07:26-376) OK (conversation complete) ... Does anyone out there with UUCP exper(tease) have any clue as to what might possibly be going on. Here is what my local USERFILE looks like: #Record for ACIS University Support. ibmsupt does not log in but calls. ,northstar5 / ,ibmsupt /usr/spool/uucppublic /tmp ...and yes, I know that posting the contents of this file is a security faux pas ;-). # Kris Olander ---- ---- arpa: kriso@northstar.dartmouth.edu # # ---------------------------------------------------------- # # System Eng.
