[net.micro] CardCo C64 -> Prowriter Problems

Michal Young <young@uci-icse> (02/05/85)

  I have a Commodore 64, a C.Itoh Prowriter (8510) printer, and a
CardCo +G printer interface which is supposed to make them talk to
each other. The CardCo interface promises that it will make the
Prowriter do all the things the Commodore printer does, including
Commodore special characters and hi-res graphics screen dumps. It
doesn't. With dip switches in both the interface and the printer set
according to CardCo instructions, square brackets and some other
characters print as series of katakana characters. This makes Logo
programs very interesting, but not very readable. Hi-res graphics
doesn't work at all. I have written CardCo twice and have talked to
them on the phone, but have found no remedy yet. My brother has
exactly the same equipment and exactly the same problems, so it can't
be a glitch in my equipment. I am preparing to take CardCo up on the
money back guarantee -- before I do this, I would like to hear from
anyone else who has used the CardCo interface to hook a Prowriter to a
C64. Did it work for you? If so, how did you do it?
