[comp.sys.ibm.pc.rt] 4 port rs232c card on model 25 with 3812 pageprinter

nghiem@ut-emx.UUCP (Alex Nghiem) (10/31/89)

I have been trying to install a 3812 Pageprinter as lp0 on a
four port rs232c card. The devices program works without error, but
I have been unable to get the qdaemon to "talk" with either the
Pageprinter or an HP laserjet through the four-port card. Both
Pageprinter and the HP laserjet work correctly on s1 and s2, the
ports on the system board. From reading the lights on the Pageprinter,
I do know that the handshaking is working properly. However,
once the Job in Process lamp turns on, nothing happens afterwards.
When the HP laserjet is connected, the error message for Protocol Error
is generated. Diagnostics indicate that there is nothing wrong
with the four port card. I have gone over the port settings and
printer settings over and over until I can't see the lines any more,
but no matter what I take out or change, the result is the
same.

Has anybody had this problem? Installing a printer SHOULD have
been a trivial operation.

My system configuration is Model 25 with AIX 2.1.2 . I have
verified that there are no DMA and Interrupt conflicts.
Diagnostics work fine.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
