I haven't been reading this group regularly so please forgive if this is a
repeat.
A friend and I have been trying to get a Maxtor XT-8760 to work in a 6151
under AIX 2.2(not sure about the version). We're sure the machine and
controller are good(we tried the same setup w/ and XT-4380 and had no
problem). We can get the drive to format depending on the configuration we
use. We've tried several configurations, ranging from 50 sectors/track
to 54 s/t along w/ skew factors of 0,1, and 2. We are also not sure
about the number of unformatted bytes/sector. The Maxtor manual shows
581 but w/ the XT-4380 IBM uses 598. We've even been able to get the
OS to load but when we try to copy mini disks or run the Diagnostics it
dies. If you are familiar w/ the skew factor, how to calcuate it, and
# of unformatted bytes/sector, or anything else along these lines please
