[comp.sys.ibm.pc.rt] Non-IBM disks on an RT

I'm curious about recent experiences with non-ibm disks on an RT.
In particular, I have an RT Model 25 (soon to be 125 if I ever get
my update kit) running AIX 2.2. It has two of the old ESDI
controllers and 3 70MB disks. I would like to get a larger
disk, but it should be compatible with my system. I guess there are
two approaches:

	1) Attach a new ESDI disk. The difficulty is that the new disks
from IBM (114 & 310) are only supported by the EESDI controller
and the EESDI disks are somehow different than the ESDI standard
disks. Does anyone know what that difference is? How about
running non-IBM ESDI on the old controllers? Could be a problem
since you can't mix controller types.

    2) Get the SCSI interface and hook up a SCSI disk. There's a big
advantage here in that a SCSI tape drive could also be added
(maybe). What kind of SCSI controller is available for the RT.

I tried to get these answers previouly but didn't get a decent response.
If anyone has tried either of the above tasks, please send me your
results. I'm getting desparate and my RT is my main machine.
