I got the source for xgif, the x-window based GIF file viewer from the standard anonymous ftp source: dsl.cis.upenn.edu. I brought the xgif.sh file over to my rt (running AIX), and unshared it OK. Using the enclosed Makefile I got errors from the C compiler that I really can't figure a way around. Does anybody out there have either the xgif binaries for the RT or the suitably modified source code that works on the RT? Thanks in advance. Reply directly to me, no need to post suggestions. If you need the same information, e-mail me, and I'll send you a summary or (even better) the guaranteed solution, once I get replies back!!--Michael Mascagni

Using |>the enclosed Makefile You should have posted a transcript of your compile session or atleast what errors you were getting. I have compiled xgif just fine using AIX 2.2.1/RT and can send you the binaries if you'd like in uuencoded form; however, xgif has been made largely obsolete by the xloadimage program now in the contrib section of the X11R4 distribution. xloadimage compiles/works fine with X11R3, as well. I am posting rather than mailing this because our newsfeed seems a whole heck of a lot more reliable than our mailer, and to make the suggestion that everyone switches to xloadimage.
