I just installed 9021 on the RS6000 and decided it was time to NFS the user directories from the RT. I installed NFS from the RT installation disks (2 disks) and set everything up exporting the filesystem to the RS6000. The RS6000 mounts the filesystem just fine and when I cd to that mount point I can do an `ls` just fine. When I go into a subdirectory things start getting weird. One of the directories with Drwx------ (and me the owner) just simply hangs when I do an `ls`. If I go into another directory (up first and then down) with Drwxr-xr-w I can do and 'ls' fine but even with files in these directories (I dont own them ) that I have r-x permissions to I cannot `cat` them, same thing, just hangs. Yes, I have matched up the uid's. I've tried what the documentation for installing with a "AT Form" card (even though I don't have one), that is mounting with different timeo times, I've tried mounting the directory with hard and soft options. My last hope is that the RS6000 is trying to do things that the base NFS on the RT can't handle. So I received some updates sometime in May (sorry I dont have the numbers with me) for the base OS and some LPP's and 1 NFS update disk. BTW, I had the same probably as one other person posted, when I applied these AES and/or Xwindows got trashed, so I went back and fixed everything (technically I dont think Re-installing everything including updates up to the last ones is "fixing", but it worked). Now I believe that I need these updates so I am going to install all the ones except those dealing with the graphics display libraries and such. Does anyone see anythings wrong with what I did/am doing? Any suggestions? Thanks, Paul
