[comp.sys.ibm.pc.rt] Hooking up an IBM 3812 pageprinter.

Yep, I did devices... Informations is being sent
through the cable, so something is working. Does
anybody have a sample file that I should be able
to send to the 3812 printer from an RT?

Thanks,
-Hugo

Did you use `devices' to configure the line for a tty or for
    a printer? These are different.

Did you check the settings of the DIP switches inside the back cover
of the printer? The printer manuals tell what they do.

'/bin/print file' should work for any ASCII file.

There is a second diskette that you must install in the 3812 for it to work
with the 6150...of course ours isn't working yet either, so....try something/
try everything until it does I guess is the best I can tell you, but we DID
replace the diskette with one labeled "IBM 3812 RT" :-)

                                                               -J

    Ours says "P/N 11F7734 EC A74721 V2.01 07-28-1988"

The printer here has been running for a year and a half with
no attention other than replacing expendable parts (some of them
    EXPENSIVE).

All I had to do to get it going was

    0) Unpack the printer and plug it in.
    1) Put in the correct diskette.
    2) Change one of the DIP switches.
    3) Run `devices' to tell the system that I had a printer, not a
       terminal, on the serial line.

I fussed with the /etc/qconfig file a bit, but I think that the
stanza `devices' installed would have worked unchanged.
