[net.micro] 2nd Hard Disk For 6300

mml@circe.UUCP (Ling) (02/07/85)

I just got my 6300 which has a 10MB hard disk built-in.
I am considering alternatives to add a second 10MB hard disk.
You can buy an expansion unit with 10MB from att-is at $2250.
I would like to know whether you can add an IBM XT expansion unit with 10MB
to the 6300 and work as well.
Also, if I use other brand such as a Shugard drive, would it need another
controller board? Are any vendors selling a drive with controller
that would work for my case?
I really appreicate if any one is thinking/doing the same, or knows about
this to give me some advice.

I purchased a 10mb hard disk for my AT&T 6300 from IDE Associates, Billerica, MA.
It works great, their support is excellent, and the price is right. They
also include some disk caching software. Call 'em @ (800) 257-5027.

They alos have some kind of trade in policy; If you wish to upgrade within
one year, you get a full allowance for the what you pain, minus a small fee.

Cheers!
