I posted this last week, but never saw it. If you've seen it, I apollogize for the repeat... I have a HAYES compatible 2400 baud modem in my RT (AIX 2.2.1). I have been able to address it and use it for dial out, but I can't figure out how to send an initialization string to it in order to set auto answer, number of rings etc. The IBM docs assume that you have an external modem an can set the switches on the front for auto answer. I've tried ("ATZ" is just an example, nothing works): echo "ATZ" >/dev/tty0 This hangs and never returns. echo "ATZ" >/dev/ltty0 This returns but has no affect. Does anyone know how to do this? Can I write a little C program that open /dev/tty0 and sends an initialization string to it? ATE is obviously able to communicate with the modem.
