[comp.sys.ibm.pc.rt] interface IBM 6180 Color Plotter to IBM 6150

I am trying to connect an IBM 6180 Color Plotter to an IBM RT PC 6150
Model 125. A Serial Printer Cable (Option Number 6294803) connects
the plotter to the computer through the port labeled ``S2' on the
Native Asynchronous RS232C Adapter. The system runs under the latest
version of "4.3 BSD UNIX (6151)" which refers to the adapter as the
"planar serial port RS232C interface". If "plotfile" contains a short
list of IBM-GL instructions, then the command "cat plotfile > /dev/ttys0"
generates the expected plot. But if "plotfile" is much larger, then the
first part of the plot is correct and most of the remainder is garbled.
It appears that the plotter buffer is being overrun. I need to know
what hardware and/or software handshaking signals the plotter and
computer interface expect. I also need to know how to set up these
signals using UNIX commands. The IBM manuals that we have for the
plotter and computer are not very helpful. Appropriate references
would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance,
