[comp.sys.ibm.pc.rt] KEYBDLOCK message on console when booting

kakazu@theory.TC.Cornell.EDU (Gary Kakazu) (06/19/91)

I just installed AOS on an RT, and when it boots up, the
message: KEYBDLOCK is on the last line of the console throughout
boot up. So, when the log on prompt appears, I can't log on
since the keyboard is locked up. Can anyone tell
me how to unlock the keyboard??

Thanks,

Gary

I just add the following line near the end of /etc/rc to avoid
this foolishness.

/usr/ibm/kbdlock off

Alternatively, you can use the key to lock the case and then
unlock it.

Boot sautil. At the menu selection prompt, type

	8 -z

(I think it is '8'). This zeroes the NVRAM, which is where the secure
keyboard bit is located. A zeroed NVRAM is harmless to AOS if you want
normal default things to happen.
