[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] What software is available?

tsmith@USNA.MIL ("Tim G. Smith", Mechanical) (01/10/88)

Does anyone out there know what is available in the way of TCP/IP
software for PC's? I am a newcomer to the pcip mailing list and would
like to gather info about what software is available for PC's.

I would be willing to gather up any responses to this message and put
together and post a summary of TCP/IP software available for PC's -
provided someone hasn't already done it. I imagine many more people
will become interested in TCP/IP on PC's as hardware becomes less
expensive and more software emerges so having a list that can be
distributed to newcomers (such as myself) of exactly what software is
available might be worthwhile.

I already have heard about or stumbled onto KAQ9 (from simtel20),
NCSA Telnet, SUN PCNFS, PC/IP (from mit? cmu?), the SLIP package (from
ucdavis? cmu?), and PCMAIL (from mit). I would still like to get info
about all of the above, so I don't distribute erroneous info.

I am interested in telnet/ftp, NFS, mail, network monitoring, and
all other TCP/IP software for PC's. If all of the people who have put
together TCP/IP software for PC's would like to stand up and be
counted, I'll start compiling a list. Ideally everyone could send a
quick message that includes:
	-what your package does
	-what hardware is required
	-how to get your package
-what you are willing to distribute (source and/or binaries)
-how to reach you if I have questions
-and anything else you think is appropriate

So how about it, send me email and let me know what has been done.
