[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] Serial card of PC/PS2

CNV38@BNR.BITNET (Mike Hui, M.H.) (04/07/88)

Hi,

Can somebody tell me where I can get a serial communication card
with the following characteristics:

1. V.35 interface (alternatively RS449/422, or T1)
2. unbundled with S/W, i.e. I can buy the Hardware alone
3. programming interface open, i.e. I need to program it
4. HDLC mode (Bisync and Async would be nice too)
5. preferably can work all the way to T1 speed (1.544 Mbps)
6. Either for the PC and PS2

Any relevant information would be much appreciated.

For PC/AT IBM has the "Realtime Interface Co-Processor".
It contains a 186, up to 1 Mbyte of memory, 1 ZSCC, 1 ZCIO.
On the card you can put 2 interfaces. Available are RS232C,
RS-422-A (in this case almost X21), V35, 20 mA.
Maximum line speed is 64Kbit/s.
You can put on it any software you like.

Sounds like the IBM RTIC (Realtime Interface Co-processor) comes close to
meeting your requirements. There is available separately a C language Support
package.
