Peter, We are currently using a product from EXCELAN, Inc. It provides rather good TCP/IP implementation. It requires both software and hardware. Two different bundled packages of software are offered. The difference is that the more expensive one provides a NETBIOS to allow other network packages to run on top of TCP/IP. In addition, VT-220, VT-100 and VT-52 (ugh!) emulations are provided. Price:(US $) LAN Workplace (no NETBIOS) and EXOS 205T ETHERNET controller - - $995.00 LAN Workplace (with NETBIOS) and EXOS 205T ETHERNET controller - - $1095.00 Where to buy: EXCELAN, INC. 2180 Fortune Blvd. San Jose, California 95131 EXCELAN, INC. Intec 2, Suite 17 Wade Road Basingoke, Hamshire, RG24 ONE England, United Kingdom (44)256-842296 Evaluation: The NETBIOS product does not work very good. We have been promised by EXCELAN that we will get an upgrade to correct all of the problems. The TCP/IP transport system works very well. It is very reliable and causes very little heartburn (mostly USERS not reading the book). We have 12 PROTEUS AT look alikes using this product. Really? Do they still rely on (ugh) static routing tables?
