I suspect WD doesn't realize how interested people are in using their boards. In support of my work, it is of value to my company to have as much technical data on the WD boards as possible so that we may use them most effectively. (we're building a Unix box out of our new processor and IBM-PC peripherals) I think everyone would be benefited if WD knew how many new customers they could reach over this network, and if I acted as the conduit between WD and USENET. WD would probably be a bit more forth coming with the information if they knew they were reaching a wide audience. My company would have the information. And the members of this network would have the information with almost no work on their part. Therefore, I would like to print out the letters and articles and forward them to my salesman. There was one person in Netherlands who didn't want his email posted, I suspect he wouldn't want it printed out either, so I won't print his. But I would like to print the letters from authors who don't object. I could either actively seek permission or passively offer a chance to be excluded. As the latter is much easier and I assume this audience is the same one that sent the letters in the first place, I'll use the latter approach unless I get a lot of complaints (or a few very angry ones). This won't happen for about four weeks anyway so there should be plenty of time for people who object to have a chance to do so. In addition, I am writing individual responses to the letters I received. -- I speak for myself, not the company. Phil Ngai, {ucbvax, decwrl, allegra}!amdcad!phil or phil@amd.com
