Has anybody ever written a Microsoft program for the IBM/PS2 that uses TCP/IP sockets over the token ring? I have to develop a program that, using TCP/IP sockets, will communicate with a server on a VAX-8750 running ULTR*X.. I would like to write the program using Microsoft Windows, because that would make the program easier to use (since it will be used by non-programmers). Has anybody ever attempted writing such a program? Should calls to the TCP/IP routines be made, thus bypassing Windows completely? Also, what TCP/IP libraries are generally used? We have the standard libraries provided by IBM, but we are having a lot of trouble using them. Therefore, we are considering buying a copy of FTP's TCP/IP development libraries (at least they will be documented. When all else fails, read the documentation :) ) Is anybody currently using them? How are they? Ari. Please respond using E-Mail. I'll summarize to the net. ========================+==============================+================= Ari Shamash | ari@cunixc.cc.columbia.edu | No job too big, Computer Consultant | ari@cunixa.cc.columbia.edu | No fee to big!
