[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] PC as a dedicated gateway

DIEHLD@carleton.EDU (Here's That Rainy Day) (07/15/88)

Hello, PCIPers. Does anyone out there know of a PC TCP/IP package which is
capable of acting as a dedicated gateway. What we need is a machine which can
take IP and, if possible, DECNet packages in over an ethernet line, and send
them to one of two possible (or, if necessary, only one) locations using SLIP.
We would like to use this limited gateway as a real time node, if possible,
such that it could service FTP and TELNET requests from nodes and the Ethernet,
and pass these requests along to the SLIP nodes. I am presently waiting for an
Ethernet adapter for my PC to arive, at which time I will attempt to coax such
functionality out of the KA9Q Internet Software Package from Bdale Garbee. Any
information on PC TCP/IP packages that could do this would be appreciated.
Please include estimated cost, amount of maintainence required, and addresses
(real or E-Mail) to contact for more information and aquisition. Thanks
in advance to anyone who responds. Please respond directly to me, as PCIP
isn't my normal stomping grounds.
