[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] IBM TCP/IP for PC router code question

CWHITE@ua1vm.ua.edu (Craig White) (11/09/88)

All,

The IBM TCP/IP for PC includes router code for token-ring <==> internet.
The manual that I have specified that you had to use an AT with an
Ungermann-Bass PC-Nic board. At Interopt I got a handout from the IBM
booth that said you could use a PS/2 model 50, 60, or 80 as a router (I
assumed you could use a model 70 also, maybe it wasn't announced when the
handout was printed). I also had my SE look in his sales manual and it
also said you could use the PS/2's.

I installed the router code on my PS/2 mod 60 with Ungermann-Bass NICps/2
board and it runs with no error but I can not get to the internet side of
the machine. I can use HMP on the token-ring side and talk to the router,
but I can not HMP to it from a internet host. I can not ping it's address
either. The netdev1.sys file that I am using with the router is one
that does work as a stand alone internet host (assuming of course that it's
renamed netdev.sys and the system is re-booted, etc).

I believe that the router code that I have only has the drivers for the
U-B PC-NIC board. Does anyone out there use a Token-ring<==>Ethernet
router? Does anyone have the router code for a U-B NICps/2 board? Is there
a new version of the router code that I need.

thanks much,
-craig
