[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] public domain support for PC-NFS

stan@lbl-csam.arpa (See-Mong Tan) (12/16/88)

I'm the person who wrote the NFS protocol file server that works on the
PC, and just to get the record straight :-) , I'm with Lawrence Berkeley
Laboratory.

As Andrew Chan (andchan@ccu.umanitoba.ca) noted, it hasn't been released
yet, and he's also right, it's because of legal problems. We have been
having on-going negotiations with Sun for quite a while now.
As it stands, we're trying to find some way of distributing it that is
satisfactory to Sun and the Laboratory. Sun's scheduled to give us
an answer sometime this month.

Geoff Arnold, PC-NFS architect, has been very helpful - he's ported the
code to work on PC-NFS (it was originally fashioned for an Excelan).

Hopefully, the answer will arrive soon, and we can get the stuff out
somehow.
