[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] sys v and pcip

snorthc@RELAY-NSWC.NAVY.MIL (01/26/89)

We are considering purchasing Sys V rel 3.2 from Western Bell for
a 80386 PC (Compaq 386/20 model 60) so that we can evaluate the
TCP streams product from Wollongong corporation. Currently we
are running SCO Xenix for 386, the TCP for this is adequate
(FTP, Telnet, SMTP) with their Xenixnet product.

Does anyone have personal experience with any of the following:
Western Bell 386 Sys V rel 3.2;
Wollongong Win TCP 386 streams;
Wollongong NFS;
Lachman TCP or NFS;
X windows for SCO, Western Bell, or MS-DOS.

I would truly appreciate knowing any probable pitfalls or
advantages to any of these products. SCO Xenix on the whole
is a solid product offering, but I will share one pitfall with
the net, I bought the SW Maint which includes tech support. During
the last three days I have made over 20 phone calls, the phone was
busy each time! If my system was down I would be one sad administrator,
fortunatly I am suffering from a fairly beign glitch.

Thank you
