Last week Novell and Apple announced an "Open Link Interface" or some such that is claimed to provide a standardized interface between applications and network card device drivers. The idea is to allow support for multiple protocol stacks and multiple network cards. Sounds a lot like FTP Sw's packet driver spec. Anyone who knows more about the Novell spec care to elaborate on the relationship? Is OLI vaporware, or can we expect to see some useful implementations (particularly, Novell + TCP/IP support!) soon?
